A Lot of Great Recipes Can Be Made in The Simple Air Fryer

Cooking meals with an air fryer is a popular option that delivers delicious food without all the added calories you get from traditional frying in heavy oil. An air fryer is a self-contained kitchen appliance that uses hot air to fry food in a fraction of the time necessary for traditional deep-frying methods. They tend to be smaller than ovens, making them ideal for small spaces. Additionally, many recipes can be cooked up in no time—even faster than on the stovetop or in an oven! With just a few simple ingredients, you can make everything from healthy breakfast foods to after-dinner treats that everyone will love. Here are three delicious and simple recipes to try out in your air fryer!

Crispy Fried Pickles

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced pickles
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

In a medium bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt. Pour vegetable oil on the pickles and toss to coat. Carefully place pickles in a hot fryer basket and fry at 350 degrees for 8 minutes or until edges are browned and crispy. Remove from the fryer basket and serve immediately.

You can always adjust your recipe to suit the pickles you have on hand. For example, some pickles may be too soft to scoop out with a fork; if that is the case, use a slotted spoon or mesh strainer to remove the pickles as they cook and then stir in another ¼ or ½ cup of flour before cooking again.

Stuffed Chicken Breast

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups bread crumbs (or more)

Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F. Place chicken breast halves in the hot air fryer and cook for 25 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with salt and pepper. In a large bowl, combine celery, onion, bread crumbs, and salt. Remove each chicken breast from the air fryer basket and flatten it with a meat mallet. Place ½ cup of bread crumbs on top of each chicken breast. Place in a hot air fryer basket and cook for another 15 minutes or until completely cooked. The cooking times for this recipe will vary greatly depending on the thickness of your bread crumbs. If the bread crumbs are not being cooked after your first frying time, add a second layer of bread crumbs to each chicken breast and place back in the air fryer until completely cooked.

Crispy Air Fryer Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp oregano (dried)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned)
  • ¼ cup parmesan (grated preferred)
  • 1 egg
  • Cooking spray

Make sure the shrimp are dry before you add them into a big bowl. You’re going to add lemon zest and lemon juice, along with the oil, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper. From then, toss the shrimp and set them aside for 15 minutes to let the flavors meld and join the shrimp. Make sure to stir the breadcrumbs and parmesan together in a dish and beat the egg in another. Take the shrimp from the marinade and dip in the egg before coating in the breadcrumbs on both sides. From there, just coat the air fryer basket in a quick layer of cooking spray. Cook at 390 degrees (preheated of course) for 2 minutes, then flip the shrimp and do it again! Make sure the shrimp are opaque and you are good to go!
